We want the very best for you and your baby.
There are thousands of couples who turn to adoption as a means to have a family. In fact, each year there are more than 50,000 US and International children adopted by US couples who want a family and are ready to be parents.
How our adoption process works:
Step One
It starts with a phone call.
Whether you have a few questions, you need more information or you just want to talk to someone who understands, call us at 1.877.628.1415.
Step Two
Tell us about your pregnancy.
During this step we want to get to know you and understand your unique circumstances so we can help determine if adoption is right for you. Will the father be involved in the child's life? Do you have the means to support this child? What are your hopes and dreams for your child's life? What are your hopes and dreams for your own life? How will your life change if you raise this child?
These are some of the items your Adoption Partner will talk about to better understanding your specific needs.
Step Three
Together we will develop an Adoption Plan.
If you decide to move forward, you will work with your Adoption Partner to develop an Adoption Plan that is truly as unique as you are.
Your Adoption Plan will include:
- The Family Profile for the adoptive family selected to raise your child
- Your Hospital Plan if you are placing your child following delivery
- The Communications Plan that outlines your relationship with the adoptive family after placement
- Resources you can rely on during and following your adoption
- If you are placing an older child, your Adoption Plan will also include a Transition Plan
During this step, you will meet with an attorney to review the legal process for adoption.
While creating an Adoption Plan does not commit you to adoption, it is used to identify potential adoptive parents for your child. So take this step if adoption is the right choice for you
Step Four
Placement with the adoptive family.
We understand that this is usually a very difficult time. That's why we make sure your Adoption Partner is available to listen, offer support and help you through what can be an emotional process.
If you are placing a newborn, your Adoption Partner will work with the hospital staff to ensure the wishes in your Hospital Plan are respected. In most cases, you will place the baby with the adoptive parents upon discharge from the hospital.
If you are placing an older child, the Transition Plan we developed together will be followed.
Although the timing varies by state, you will usually sign legal documents pertaining to the adoption process shortly after the child is placed with the adoptive parents.
Step Five
Post Placement Support
Over the next few days, weeks and sometimes months, you are likely to feel and experience many emotions including sorrow, anger, anxiety, and guilt. It is important to go through this process because it is actually a natural healing process. Surrounding yourself with supportive family, friends and professionals and making sure you're taking care of yourself by eating right, exercising and resting can help. Your Adoption Partner will be available to provide support and to remind you that your dreams are within your reach.
